More than
50% of population of Garulia
Municipality are economically weak and
resides in slum. Q. S. S. has identified
those slum dwellers who do not ever get
180 man days employment in the year
which is not adequate for them for
sustaining a respectable livelihood. To
generate more livelihood opportunities
as well as to strengthen the UPE cell of
the ULB some major projects were
identified under Livelihood and Poverty
Alleviation Plan as:

Capacity Building training for UPE
cell members

To
arrange behavioral training for NHC
members.

To
arrange training on Monitoring &
Evaluation to NHC members including
CDS members.

Introduce regular monitoring of bank
loan repayment behaviour.

Framing rules for minimum number of
meetings of NHGs and NHCs.

Training of Thrift and Credit Group
members in micro-finance and group
dynamics.

To
produce and telecast a documentary
film of 2/3 minutes duration on
Government Schemes in local Cable.
